28 Weeks
April 15th, 2009
Matthew and I started to put together the baby’s library this week. We are both pretty crazy readers but let most of our books go about 2 moves ago. We sadly realized we didn’t have room for the bookcases and didn’t want to schlep them around from house to house for the rest of our lives. The library was being used pretty regularly at that point so it was a natural move. We donated over 250 books and haven’t looked back since. Until now.
Kids need books! They read the same ones over and over again so its not throwing away money like it is when we buy books for ourselves. I figured I could check out yard sales once the weather got warmer, and look for used books online, but I know we’ll have to bite the bullet and spend a little cash so why not start now.
We stopped into a bookstore as a time killer before dinner the other day and came out with this:

a $100 investment in our child’s future. Its nowhere close to where I’d like to be by the summer but it’s a start.

Sandra Boyton! We got ‘The Going to Bed Book’ as a Christmas present and we read it almost nightly (now I recite it because the book ended up under the couch and I am lazy). We have bought several of her other books as well. ‘Barnyard Dance’ is fab, and I am sure will be a TON of fun once Three is old enough to actually oink and moo and what not.

Since you mentioned it to me I have been keeping my eyes open for some nice books and have picked up a couple of cute ones that I’ll bring with me. It’s a great idea since I also love to read and it’s much easier for me to pick out books than other things.
