girls clothes are so much better
November 4th, 2009
I bought a lot of clothes for Asher before he was born. I wasn’t having a shower, I’m a sucker for things on sale, and I had zero interest in buying anything for my hugely pregnant self. As soon as I found out I was having a boy I went a little crazy snatching up cute boy outfits right and left. See evidence here.
I organized all these adorable baby clothes so many times and eventually washed all the 0-6 months and put them away in drawers. Lately I’ve slowly been putting the 0-3 months clothes back in the storage bin and putting him in some of the larger items.
Yesterday Matthew went to change him into something without barf on it and he came back in this warm and fuzzy, cuddly, snuggly, baby gap one piece that he hasn’t worn before.
My first thought was “YAY the legs are long enough.”

My second thought was “What is up with those shoulders?”

OH MY GOD THAT OUTFIT IS MEANT FOR A GIRL
I distinctly remember picking this up from (what I thought was) a unisex pile at the gap. It sure looks unisex in its brown/brown stripe glory but it is clearly not.
ahem…CLEARLY.

Doesn’t he look faaaabulous?
(psst-Dude. You are wearing girl clothes!)

“Woe is me” is right.
Anyone in the market for a 3-6mos velour one piece from baby gap organic?

Oh please. Everyone knows how much better the girls’ clothes are. And by the way, have you noticed that the girls’ section of any kids’ clothing store is twice as large as the boys’ section? It’s so unfair! And now I’m having another boy and don’t even get to shop…
But seriously, that baby is cute even in a ruffly-shouldered onesie.

Bah! Hilarious!
I don’t think it looks that silly and with a face like that…you gots to be crazy to even care that it’s a girls outfit!

Maybe I’m blind, but it doesn’t seem like a girlie onesie? I can’t get past the brown and the stripes I guess. Anyway, Asher is secure enough in his manliness to not care. Right buddy?

No the color is definitely boyish, its all about the cut. As the 2 previous commenters (both moms to boys) can attest – boys clothes do not have puffy shoulders. Let alone side hip pockets. I mean I couldn’t even look at him without laughing. He will not be wearing this again, even around the house.
