art class
March 16th, 2011
I signed Asher up for this low key sensory art class this spring and he is really loving it. Its super tiny with only 6 kids and the teacher is really engaging.
Its at the Brooklyn Design Lab, a place we passed zillions of times before he turned 18 months (aka the magic number that opens the door to tons of fun classes around town)
They start the class playing with wooden shapes, then she brings out the medium for the week, last week’s was salt. They listen to it shake in a container, touch it, smell it, etc then they make art out of it. Asher mixed salt with flour, water and tempra to make the artwork above (displayed on the door!)
This week we used barley and eventually glue.
The best part about it is that he really loves it. It doesn’t hurt that he’s also learning patience, creativity and that whole sitting a a table while working thing. Plus now he brings home cool artwork every week. If anyone is in the market for Yarn Art I’m your girl.

I’m jealous of this class. I wish I had the money and the time to do something like this with Logan.
