sunshine day
April 2nd, 2011
Its sunny today! This is very exciting because the weather has been absolutely miserable lately. Its either raining, snowing, hailing or freezing going on 11 days according to the weather people. We’ve been back in our jackets, boots and mittens after such a nice break 2 weeks ago.
The last time we saw the sun my good friend Jessica came to visit and she had the most amazing weather, I think it was near 70 (as opposed to you know, 33)
Jessica, Asher and obviously I spent a good deal of time outside. One morning we took a “baby spirit walk” which basically means we head out of the house with no stroller and just follow him wherever he wants to go.
He headed in the direction of the park, and made a beeline for the playground. I actually had to coax him back onto the path because he was insisting on taking the straightest route – which would have led him into a fence.
We hit up the sandbox for a while where we soon realized that even though he LOVES playing with the sand he hates accidentally touching it. I already knew that he really can’t stand having anything on his hands (see finger painting) and guess what…SO DO I. So whatever. Its an annoying trait but if that’s the worst he gets from me its not really that bad.
He spent a few minutes wiping the sand off this ledge with HIS HANDS so when he climbed onto it, the sand wouldn’t get…on HIS HANDS.
I don’t get it.
After the sandbox he wandered into the park and we just followed along mindlessly.
Then all of a sudden he turned and headed straight up a pretty steep hill. With purpose.
A truck.
So happy! Then about a minute later a parks worker got into the truck and they drove away.
So sad.
But that’s what a spirit walk is all about I guess. Luckily “Je-ca” was there to pick up the pieces.
Sometime’s even Mommies aren’t enough. Its nice to have a friend to hold your hand.

The look of dejection, though sad is extremely cute, to to all, but Asher. Reminds me of Charlie Chaplin at his dejected best. Sand and hand photos are hilarious.
