on the hunt: sheets

We desperately need new bedsheets. Our old ones are just that. Old. I’m bored of them. They are white on white stripe and nice enough, but I’m thinking I want a little color up in here.

Our walls are the lightest of the light purple – so light that you think it’s white until you look at it against the white trim.

Our rug is the Jackson Stripe

Our furniture is Farmhouse

I want to stay with something light to counteract the dark furniture and partial brick wall.

I am very into the grey and yellow combo but I’m having a hard time finding something that works. This is my current favorite set – Dwell Studio Draper Ash

But striped sheets with a striped rug? It won’t work.

I kind of like this set from Target but really do not need a duvet cover. Why do they have so many duvet cover options and no bedding options?

And the only semi-nice set I have found is this one from Martha Stewart Collection but they don’t have any sheets available online

But I don’t know if I like how it all goes together. Any other ideas on where I can look?

UPDATE: I kind of really like both of these at crate and barrel.

Thoughts?

Maybe I should just get white striped sheets. They have them EVERYWHERE.

I am really into this petal mirror that recently went on sale at Pottery Barn Kids. (secret=I love mirrors and own more than we can fit on the walls of our apartment)

I am in love with the chairs in this photo. Well, I’m in love with the window, the wall color, the table and that storage solution on the left side as well. I’m willing to settle for just the chairs.

I have no idea what they are or where they got that fabric but I think I need some yellow in my life.

I think I’ve mentioned that we are not spending a fortune on the baby stuff. Mostly because (I’m cheap) we have no room for anything, and (really, really, cheap) please – I just got bedroom furniture that we did not have to assemble ourselves last year, he can live with Ikea/craigslist/stuff we found around the house. So much is borrowed and what isn’t…well…doesn’t need to last us for a lifetime.

We decided to have 1 splurge item in honor of the baby’s arrival – a glider, and if you know me at all, you know I’ve spent months searching for the exact one I want. Since its going in the living room and I’d like it to fit into our lives for a good long while I have been being kind of picky. Plus, OMG even the ugly ones are outrageously priced! I refuse to spend any of my hard earned money on something ugly and shabbily put together. Well the clock is ticking and with 5 weeks till my due date I have been getting a little nervous that we wouldn’t have one while the babe was still a babe.

I saw this one on a decor blog a while back and today we finally hunted one down to try out in person.

The above pic is the exact color option and style we chose. I cannot wait for it to arrive in 4-6 weeks! From Canada! Where it is being custom made just for me! Hopefully it gets here before Cupcake but its really down to the wire. I’m not holding my breath.

Yeah, we also got the ottoman. But pregnancy is hard work and hot damn, I earned it!

We are always on the lookout for anything that is Canadian made to try and make my husband feel more “at home” in our home (He is Canadian-American but has lived here since ’96). I’ve recently come across a few sites where I can already see myself spending lots of money. Possibly even more on future gifts for my friends and loved ones living in the 51st state. Sending things via UPS is so cost prohibitive when it has to travel across the border, and we have quite a few neighbors to the north that I know would appreciate a timely birthday present for a change. Lucky them, Lucky me, Go Canada!

Jenna Rose: Home decor, mostly. I especially like the storage bags and the cotton blankets.{via d*s}

Good Egg: This site is a jackpot of Canadian handmade. Would love to have either a broken teacup necklace or these simple but tasteful tea towels. {via bloesem}

Canadian art: Took this (crappy) photo in the washroom at the Wired Monk in Cloverdale, BC and have been doing a bit of research on the artist, Connie Geerts. I like the prints but would love to own one of her original pieces one day.

Canadians on etsy: Tinywarbler handsews these amazing softies out of Vancouver and I own three. I had to cut myself off but still stalk her blog to drool over the ones I don’t have.

rikrak: just cute cute cute.

Avril Loreti: These would be alot of fun at Christmas.

Petit Flaneur: GAH! Kids clothes with birds on them! I’m surprised one of my nieces doesn’t have one already.
