METS! METS! METS!

Ever since we went to the Mets spring training game we have really been getting excited for the season. Fine, it helps that the new stadium has a shake shack but still…YOU GOTTA BELIEVE!

This hilarious video is a good representation of why being a Mets fan is so frustrating. The only thing you need to know going into it is that the 86 Mets were world champs, and that almost every year the past few years the Mets did really great until the end of the season, and then f’d everything up and made grown men cry. Even if you hate baseball it is super funny and short. Watch it!

On The Road: Halloween in DC

Friday night we went down to DC for the Coldplay concert with Gary and Michelle. Surprisingly very few of the concertgoers were dressed up for halloween but the few that were, wow. They kind of stuck out, I’ll just say that.

The mood in DC was very festive all around, lots of sexy cops, sexy nurses and people dressed as bananas. It was quite a mix. The concert was really fun, and I even had the opportunity to enjoy a crystal light slurpee on the way home. Who knew they existed? Refreshing and delicious, and sugarfree.

Since Gary and MIchelle live in a Virginia suburb we were all set to visit the boy museum near their house on Saturday. When we woke up and headed out for breakfast it was about 65 degrees so we changed our plans and decided to go to Great Falls Park instead. The park was Great! there were Falls! It was GREAT! FALLS!

It was super cool, and the weather was unbelievable although none of us were dressed for hiking we still had fun.

My favorite part was the sign in the ladies room that said “Do not fall over the edge, You will DIE!” There was a whole bunch of people so I didn’t take a pic, but now I really wish I did.

We hiked around all up and down and all over the place, Michelle in her leisure suit and everything. Poor thing thought we were going to Eggspectation

Whie Gary was busy pondering life on a tiny rock

And Matthew was busy climbing up to the top of mountains

Michelle and I sat here for a while, just enjoying the day without trying to get ourselves killed

*and also really irritating the shit out of that chick who was trying to meditate on the rock next to us.

What did I tell ya, good times had by all!

Getting the band back together

I ordered Rock Band 2 while I was in Vegas and it was here when I got home Friday night.

On Sunday we invited Tim over for a delicious roast beef dinner. We tried Kosher this time because they didn’t have regular in the size we needed. It was delicious, we will definitely do that again. Highly recommended A+++.

Unfortunately our old Rock Band characters don’t transfer over (IMISSUPOOKIE) so we had to create new ones.

The first song we did on the new game was “Eye of the Tiger” . I totally killed it! And also like 5 other songs. I’m a damn fine singer whipping up 100s all over the eastern seaboard with my make-believe band.

I’ll let you guess who is who. I’ll just say that one of us has a name that is not deemed as “classy” and not allowed to use xbox live unless we change it.

Just Me

I’ve been home alone for 2 weeks today and I have to say, I’ve come to really enjoy spending time with myself. I’m a lot of fun! I like to do ALL the things I like to do, its so awesome. Its like I can read my mind. I always like what I make for dinner, I only want to watch trashy tv and I also hate sports. I can hardly believe how lucky I am to have found me! Its been really fun hanging out with myself!

All joking aside, that’s not to say I don’t miss Matthew, because of course I do but besides that I don’t really mind having him away as much as I thought I would. It would be nice for him to come home on the weekends, I think thats a fair compromise.

My single life is still a bit on the boring side because I’ve been working so much. Saturday I spent the entire day with my friend Adam after driving his wife and baby to the airport. It was the first time in as long as I can remember that we spent time together alone. We’ve been friends since high school and went to college together so we have spent ALOT of quality time in each other’s presence, usually with our spouses, but it was really great to have an old school type of day and just chill without the annoyance of loved ones who don’t get every single reference of our 15+ year friendship.

After dropping off Christine and Maddie we went to Williamsburg to hit up EGG, a great brunch place that I have been wanting to try.

They give you these for free

But I had to pay for this one

He “forgot” cash. Then we went to see Tropic Thunder and loved every second of it. Adam laughed his ass off which made me laugh my ass off. I swear, we both lost 10 lbs of ass laughing at that movie. He laughed so hard I thought he was going to puke, cause he did that once.

Sunday I went to Ramona’s house for a brunch. It was fantastic but I forgot to take photos because I burned my finger really badly trying to make this amazing savory tart. Ramona didn’t have any ice so I spent the entire day having my finger packed in either a bag of peas or a bag of corn. The tart turned out tasty but ugly (I burned the sides and had to cut them off with one hand) so sorry, no pics. You’ll have to trust Martha that it is indeed fabulous.

She also made a veggie frittata, bagel platter and muesli and yogurt. Very impressive spread.

I did get a shot of the plum cake she made for dessert - inspired by a recent trip to Germany and so so so good. Not super sweet but the perfect amount for a brunch dessert, or breakfast if you are feelin it.

Home Alone: Day 4

I went to see American Teen with Ramona. A documentary about high school. It was perfect.
